Schneider Regional Medical Center Responds to Brush Fire 

 ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — August 17, 2026 – Schneider Regional Medical Center (SRMC) extends its sincere appreciation to Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) and all emergency personnel for their swift response to the brush fire near the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital and Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute. 

Throughout the incident, SRMC leadership and staff closely monitored conditions and remained prepared to respond as needed. Patient care and hospital operations continued without interruption, and no injuries were reported at SRMC. 

“On behalf of Schneider Regional Medical Center, I extend my sincere gratitude to VIFEMS and all emergency responders for their swift and effective response,” said SRMC Chief Executive Officer Darlene A. Baptiste. “I also commend our staff for remaining vigilant and focused throughout the incident. The safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and employees remain our highest priority.” 

SRMC also thanks public officials, community members, and concerned citizens who reached out to check on the hospital and those in our care. We deeply appreciate your concern and continued support.
