The Medical Staff Pediatrics must be a qualified medical doctor who has successfully completed a recognized ACGME or AOA residency in Pediatrics. He/she must be licensed to practice medicine in the United States Virgin Islands and must be board-certified in their specialty within 5 years of joining the organization. He/she must be credentialed in Schneider Regional Medical Center as an associate or active member with appropriate privileges in Pediatrics/Pediatric subspecialties to admit, evaluate, perform history and physical examination, diagnose, consult, and provide non-surgical management of all patients under the age of 18 as it relates to your subspecialty. The Medical Staff Pediatrician/Pediatric subspecialist should have expertise in caring for children of all ages, from birth through 18 years or age ranges related to your particular specialty, provide inpatient care, provide emergency room consultations, take medical histories and physicals, order and evaluate appropriate tests, and institute treatment plans for a broad range of pediatric/pediatric subspecialty conditions. Additionally, the Medical Staff Pediatrician/Pediatric subspecialist will attend cesarean sections for normal and high-risk newborn deliveries, provide initial stabilization of newborns, and provide general follow-up newborn care and education. The Medical Staff Pediatrician/Pediatric subspecialist is expected to provide pediatric coverage to the Schneider Regional Medical Center on a rotational basis with the other Medical Staff Pediatricians/Pediatric subspecialists. He/She will also ensure the quality and safety of service for patients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards, rules, Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations requirements, and legal regulations, as well as participating in utilization reviews.
Completion of residency/fellowship in Pediatrics(subspecialty) in an ACGME-accredited institution. Holds a current VI Medical license.

Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours a day, walk up to 4 hours a day, and sit for up to 4 hours a day. Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs. and lift/carry up to 20 lbs. on an occasional basis. Is aware of the risk of exposure to communicable diseases, blood, and/or body fluids.
Current PALS and NRP certification are required.
· Physician reports to the Schneider Regional Medical Center (the hospital) regularly by 8 am, or earlier if required by committee meetings or service responsibilities, to facilitate patient care and to coordinate with other Hospital services. The physician’s
continued availability is dictated by clinical necessity and patient requirements over 24 hours within the physician’s specialty area.
· Physicians will maintain a current VI Medical License, current DEA, and current Malpractice Insurance (of not less than the minimum amounts determined by the Board of Directors). Board certification requirements, as prescribed by the Medical Staff Bylaws, must be maintained.
· Physician is expected to uphold the highest professional and ethical standards as it relates to patient care, interpersonal interactions, and the Hospital.
· Physicians indicate a willingness to cooperate with the administration, Medical Staff, and employees of the Hospital so as not to adversely affect patient care.
· Physicians will abide by the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the SRMC Medical Staff.
· Physician will maintain their associate or active medical staff membership of the Hospital and remain in good standing.
· Physicians commit to maintain adequate medical education and training with respect to their specific specialty as required by the Medical Staff Bylaws.
· Physician adheres to their on-call schedule as provided by their chief of service.
· Physician completes medical records and appropriately signs off on all documents related to patient care in a timely manner.
· Physician provides appropriate documentation for all consultations and history and physicals as indicated by the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff of the Hospital.
· Physicians are able to work as a team with different divisions of the organization to provide oversight and guidance in matters regarding the physician’s specialty area.
· Physician will undertake the care of the patients without regard to the patient’s ability to pay for these services.
· Physician will serve on hospital staff committees as required by the hospital.
· Physician will be expected to participate on the team that will assist with disaster relief efforts.
· Physician submits appropriate requests for leave at least 2 weeks in advance for approval by the Chief Medical Officer’s office.
