TheLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works collaboratively as a member of the health care team in provision of safe, effective quality nursing care to all patients under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Utilizes the nursing process in planning and administering care; assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and the Nursing Department.
Education & Experience
High School graduate or obtained GED. Must have successfully completed an approved school of practical nursing and passed the PN NCLEX licensure exam. Holds a current VI LPN license.

Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours a day, walk up to 4 hours a day, and sit for up to 4 hours a day. Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs. and lift/carry up to 20 lbs. on an occasional basis. Is aware of risk of exposure to communicable diseases; blood and/or body fluids.
Specific Requirements
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer BLS certification; knowledgeable of and comfortable working with computers.
Duties & Responsibilities
Performs and documents thorough review of patient system which reflects knowledge of current nursing practice standards.
Collaborates with the RN a comprehensive, goal-oriented plan of care which is outcome based and meets the patient’s needs throughout the course of treatment.
Consistently identifies and reports significant changes/abnormal findings to the Physicians/Charge Nurse/Head Nurse/CCC and responds appropriately.
Implements age-specific patient and family teaching based on identified needs and discharge plan.
Demonstrates clinical competence in the performance of clinical skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to the hospital’s emergency plan, codes, and procedures and responds accordingly to the situation.
Consistently coordinates accurate transfer of pertinent patient information to other members of the healthcare team utilizing the accepted “hand-off” communication guidelines.
Delegates tasks/assignments to staff as appropriate. Follows up on assigned tasks to ensure successful patient outcomes.
Assists in orientation of new personnel and serves as a resource person.
Recognizes potential problematic situations and refers appropriately.
Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency in the use of unit equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency in downtime procedures.
