The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Internal Medicine provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to adult patients in a hospital setting. The NP is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic medical conditions, and for collaborating with physicians. The NP will work closely with the clinical team to ensure high-quality patient care, manage follow-ups, and educate patients on preventative measures and lifestyle modifications. This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and their respective Department.
Master’s or Doctor of Nursing (DNP) degree from an accredited nursing program. Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in internal medicine, hospitalist, or acute care setting preferred. A VI Nurse Practitioner license is required.

Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross BLS & ACLS certification is required.
· Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations for adult patients.
· Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic conditions in hospitalized patients.
· Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions under physician supervision.
· Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
· Monitor patient progress, evaluate responses to treatment, and adjust care plans as appropriate.
· Respond to urgent and emergent situations, including rapid response events, within scope of practice.
· Perform clinical procedures within the scope of practice (e.g., IV insertion, wound care, catheter placement, minor procedures).
· Participate in daily rounds with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
· Coordinate care with nursing staff, specialists, case management, and ancillary services.
· Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and preventive care.
· Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges, including completing necessary documentation and instructions.
· Ensure timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
· Adhere to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.
· Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
· Perform other related work responsibilities as required.
