Under the direction of a licensed nurse or physician, the Hemodialysis Lead Technician is a vital member of the healthcare team who specializes in the operation and maintenance of dialysis equipment. They are responsible for monitoring patient condition during the procedure as well as the technical aspects of operating dialysis equipment. They must be able to recognize and respond to any complications that may arise during the procedure, such as bleeding or allergic reactions. They must provide education for patients and staff. They will work closely with the Hemodialysis Administrator and other members of the healthcare team to ensure the patient receives the best possible care. Other responsibilities include preceptor to new technicians and nursing students and assisting and coordinating the technician program. The Hemodialysis lead technician reports to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Care Coordinator and/or administrator.
Education & Experience
Must have a high school diploma or GED. Required current dialysis technician training certificate. Certification as a Clinical Dialysis Technician (CCHT). At least five (5) years or more experience as a CCHT.

Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours a day, walk up to 4 hours a day, and sit for up to 4 hours a day. Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 100 lbs. and lift/carry up to 20 lbs. on an occasional basis. Is aware of the risk of exposure to communicable diseases; blood and/or body fluids. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, cold, heat, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious diseases.
Specific Requirements
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with computers.
Knowledge of dialysis equipment and procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology and its relation to Hemodialysis.
Must be comfortable in providing education for new staff.Ability to adhere to healthcare and CMS regulations and V-tag for the dialysis facility.
