Echo Cardiograph Technologist

Position

(Full Time)

The Echocardiograph Technologist performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations utilizing specialized ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality images of cardiac structures and function. The incumbent is responsible for conducting transthoracic echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, and other non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures in accordance with physician orders, established departmental protocols, and applicable regulatory standards.  The Echocardiograph Technologist works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely, accurate diagnostic information while ensuring exceptional patient care, safety, and confidentiality.  This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the position’s duties and should be cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and their respective Department. – Heart & Lung

Education & Experience

An Echo Technologist requires an associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology, a High School Diploma or a GED, nine (9) months of specialized training in a related field, and one (1) year of on-the-job experience in a hospital or medical setting. New graduates with appropriate clinical rotations may be considered. Pediatric echocardiography experience or certification preferred.

Hazards & Physical Requirements

Work in this category is sedentary and involves sitting, some standing, and walking; employees may be required to lift or pull up to 10 lbs. frequently or 20 lbs. occasionally.

Specific Requirements

One must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).  Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Knowledge of echocardiographic principles and ultrasound instrumentation.
  • Ability to recognize abnormal cardiac anatomy and function.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular diagnostic procedures.
  • Ability to operate echocardiography equipment safely and effectively.
  • Excellent patient assessment and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
