Under the supervision or direction of the attending anesthesiologists, the qualified candidate for the Anesthesiologists Assistant position works in collaboration with the staff to provide anesthetic care to patients throughout the hospital undergoing medical procedures or emergencies. This work is categorized as medium work type, which includes the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly, standing and or walking for up to 8 hours per day and sitting for up to 1 hour per day. Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, communicable diseases, blood and body fluids.
Specific Requirements
Evaluating patients for scheduled and emergency medical procedures.
In collaboration with the attending anesthesiologist, determining the anesthetic plan for medical procedures, ranging from sedation to general anesthesia.
Closely monitoring patients’ vital signs during procedures.
Assessing patients’ responses to procedural stimulation and making appropriate modifications to ensure adequate anesthesia and analgesia.
Providing analgesic options for patients on the labor and delivery unit.
Responding to emergencies throughout the hospital as needed, to provide anesthetic assistance (emergency intubations, etc.)
Assisting in departmental roles as assigned, including turnover of rooms, ordering of supplies, etc.
Other responsibilities as determined by departmental needs
