Because excellent patient care is the priority of SCHNEIDER REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, the Patient Relations Department is established to cater to patient needs, monitor compliance with patient rights and privileges, and to address any concerns that patients or family members may have about care, medical center policies, and procedures.<\/p>

A most critical responsibility of the department is to receive, analyze, and implement suggestions or recommendations with the goal to enhance the quality of services.<\/p>

All customers of SCHNEDIER REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER are encouraged to utilize the services of the Patient Relations Department to comment on any aspect of customer service.<\/p>

Often, former patients will be asked to participate in telephone or written surveys to assist the ongoing effort to improve all aspects of care and service.<\/p>

Visiting Hours<\/h4>

You are welcome to visit your family and friends, seven days a week, from 6 AM to 10 PM on the Medical, Surgical, and Maternal \/ Child Health, Intensive Care Units.
On the Behavioral Health Unit, visitors are welcome, Monday through Friday, 7 PM to 8 PM and Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 1 PM to 4 PM.<\/p>

We would like to ask you not to overwhelm our patients with too many people at one time. Patients are limited to two visitors at a time.<\/p>

How to Contact a Patient<\/h4>

If you are looking for a patient, please call the hospital\u2019s main telephone line at 340-776-8311 and be prepared to ask for that individual by the patient\u2019s legal name.
Be aware that if the patient has opted out of the hospital\u2019s directory, you may not be able to contact them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

International Patients<\/h3>

International patients are always welcome at Schneider Regional Medical Center.<\/p>

We recommend that if you are an international patient or ship\u2019s crew member planning to visit us for an inpatient, maternity, or outpatient service, ensure that you have your physician referrals and admissions packet completed.<\/p>

We also require your photo identification and insurance cards or documents. Payment is required at the time of service.<\/p>

If you have any questions, we will be happy to assist you upon your arrival. Please check in at the Patient Access \/ Admitting Department on the Second Floor of the Schneider Regional Medical Center.<\/p>

Language, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services<\/h3>

Patients who have language or TDD communication requirements are welcome at Schneider Regional Medical Center.
Our facilities contracts with a telephone interpretation services provider for over-the-phone interpretation.
We maintain compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act for patients who may be Deaf or Hard of Hearing.<\/p>

Advanced Directives<\/h4>

In accordance with Title 19, Chapters 10 and 20 Virgin Islands code, you have the legal right to say in advance what your wishes are for refusing or accepting treatment if you become unable to make your wishes known to your family and physician.<\/p>

An Advance Directive states your wishes at a time when you are able to thoroughly make a decision about your health care.<\/p>

Ethical Policies<\/h4>

Ethics label The Schneider Regional Medical Center (SRMC), its Governing Board, Medical Staff and employee conduct patient care and all other business operations in an ethical manner, consistent with our mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and our guiding policies. Such ethical practices include, but are not limited to, all areas of patient rights; billing practices; marketing practices; admissions; transfer and discharge practices; and avoidance of conflict or interest in contractual relationships. Regardless of financial risk programs or compensation mechanisms for services provided, clinical decisions will always be made in the best interest of the patient. The hospital\u2019s code of ethical business and professional behavior protects the integrity of clinical decision making, regardless of who the hospital compensates or shares financial risk with its leaders, managers, clinical staff and licensed independent practitioners.<\/p>

When the hospital recognized and respects patient rights, it is providing an important aspect of care that has been shown to encourage patients to become more informed and involved in their care. These empowered patients ask questions and develop better relationships with their caregivers.
