The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall operation of the Clinical Laboratory Department including technical direction and supervisory support to MKSHC. Activities included are performance of chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests performed in the laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Ensures the services are of the best quality, are cost contained and are carried out in an expeditious manner. Additional responsibilities include recognizing results or problems that require referral to the Pathologist, assuring competency of all personnel, formulating the budget for the department, maintaining performance improvement activities within the department and participating in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and maintaining efficient and effective departmental operations in compliance with all federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and the Clinical Laboratory Department.
