Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute

Provides to the Eastern Caribbean region state-of-the-art and comprehensive out-patient diagnostic and treatment services, combining clinical, research, educational, and patient support under one roof.

The Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute is the newest Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute division of the SCHNEIDER REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER.

Since 2005, it has provided to the Eastern Caribbean region state-of-the-art and comprehensive out-patient diagnostic and treatment services, combining clinical, research, educational, and patient support under one roof.

Oncology services include radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and pediatric oncology. CKCI’s diagnostic capabilities include Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, CT Scan, Mammography, and Diagnostic Pathology.

Expert surgeons and other medical specialists collaborate to plan treatment, to support data collection, and confer with physicians and surgeons internationally using modern telecommunications systems, and more directly during conferences held in the convenient Bennie and Martha Benjamin Medical Auditorium.

CKCI’s resources are made available for community use, as well, as part of the strategy to educate the community, and to promote greater public awareness of cancer prevention and treatment methods.

With an impressive level of support from the Virgin Islands community, the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute has created a physical environment designed to enhance the wellness environment. Among the donated amenities it a Healing Garden along an outer walkway, the Lynne Cohen Appearance Boutique, and the Patient and Family Resource Library. Patient Navigator ensures the opportunity to conveniently access all required services of a facility designed with patient comfort and safety in mind.

The Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute is a most valuable asset, not only to the people of the United States Virgin Islands, but to all of the Eastern Caribbean region. Services which until only recently required long-distance travel and separation from family to obtain, are now available in comfortable and familiar surroundings.

*Cancer unit is temporarily not in operation due to hurricanes Irma and Maria.
