St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands — SRMC is pleased to announce Attorney Tina A. Comissiong as its new Interim CEO effective December 2, 2021.

Attorney Comissiong, the present Legal Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of SRMC, will serve as the Interim CEO until a permanent CEO is named. She replaces Dr. Luis Amaro, who resigned from the Interim CEO role effective December 2, 2021.

Attorney Comissiong is an experienced and knowledgeable Healthcare executive who has held various leadership positions. Before joining SRMC in 2015, she worked as an Administrative Officer at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, where she had the experience of overseeing multiple hospital departments. She was also a Project Officer, overseeing numerous contracts for the Clinical Center. Attorney Comissiong also worked for the United States Sentencing Commission and a private Law Firm. In 2017, Atty. Comissiong served as Acting Chief Executive Officer of SRMC during the two Category 5 Hurricanes, Irma and Maria.

She holds a master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Care Policy and Management from New York University and a Juris Doctorate from Howard Law School. Tina completed her undergraduate studies at Duke University and is a proud graduate of the All Saints Cathedral School on St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Attorney Tina Comissiong is a Member of the Maryland State Bar (June 2015) and a U.S. Virgin Islands Bar (November 2015). She received exceptional performance ratings during her PostGraduate Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health – Clinical Center. She won first place at the National Association of Health Service Executives’ Nathanial Wesley Brain Bowl Competition. In 2018, Tina was awarded by the National Minority Quality Forum as one of 40 under 40 Leaders in Healthcare.

Tina is a native Virgin Islander who is deeply rooted in the community. She is regularly involved in coordinating and participating in community building and philanthropic activities.

The District and Territorial Boards are confident that Atty. Comissiong possesses the qualifications and skills to lead the organization during this transition period.
